Khalid Bouziane obtained a Master (DEA, 1992) and PhD (1996) degrees in Materials Science from Pierre & Marie Curie University (Paris 6 University/France). He has about 20 years of experience in the education and research sectors. He was/is the principal investigator or co-investigator of more than 20 funded R&D projects on materials science, renewable energy and corrosion. Prof. Bouziane has produced over 100 ISI scientific publications, conference contributions & scientific reports, and 5 patents. He has participated/contributed to more than 60 International Conferences and workshops organized mainly in Europe and USA, several of them as an invited speaker. He was the Regional Contact Point in the Middle East of the Nanosciences African Network «NANOAFNET» supported by the African Academy of Sciences and ICSU-ROSSA among others. Prof. Bouziane is a regular Visiting Professor of universities in France, Italy, South Africa, Portugal, Oman and Germany. He was an active member of the National Council of Scientists & Engineers of France: Section South-Africa «CNISF-SA». As a member of the Applied Physics Industrial Group (APIG) in South Africa, he has participated to strengthen the Academy-Industry Bridge, Serving Science and Technology. He was involved in human capacity building by co-supervising several undergraduate and postgraduate students. He is the co-organizer of eight international conferences, two regional workshops, two colloquia, and one summer school. He was an Expert in the framework of FINCOME National S&T Program. Prof. Bouziane is a Peer Reviewer of more than 12 International (American and European) Journals and Assessor of national and international research proposals. He is also the External Assessor for academic promotion of King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia), as well as Assessor of several Master and PhD theses in Morocco, Oman, South Africa, France and Portugal. Prof. Bouziane is a Senior Fellow of the UNISCO-UNISA Africa Chair in Nanosciences-Nanotechnology, as well as a Senior Fellow of the African Network for Solar Energy (ANSOLE) and member of its Newsletters’ Editorial Board. Previously, he has served at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in a number of service committees and several teaching positions of leadership, such as member of the joint R&D Science-Engineering Committee, Coordinator of various large courses, member of the Curriculum Committee (CC) and Departmental Representative of the ABET program, Chairman of the departmental Choice of Major program committee, Chairman of the departmental External Relations committee, and departmental Board Secretary. At SQU, he had a strong input in designing new courses as well as Majors.
He has also designed in collaboration with the Lorraine University Master and Bachelor (Licence) programs in Renewable Energies & Energy Efficiency at UIR. He is the UIR Coordinator of Tempus project on modernizing Programs on renewable energies in Maghreb. He was the Chair of the School Renewable Energies & Petroleum Studies at UIR since September 2011, and acted as the Vice-Chair for the School of Aerospace Engineering at the UIR during Fall’2011. He is also a member of the Academic Council and University Council (Spet’2011-Sept’2014), as well as the Research Council and the Promotion Committee of UIR, Based on his recent position as the Head of the Energy School at UIR, he gained an extensive & diversified experience in the Energy sector (Renewable Energy & Clean Energy) with all round knowledge of the Energy sector (Technical, Commercial, Policy & Regulatory Framework). In relatively short time, he has been able to convince many renewed partners and therefore built a large and efficient international academy-industry network. As extra-activities, Bouziane was a Representative of the Moroccan Diaspora in the Arab World at the National Workshop (Al-Monadara) held at Rabat in 2006 relative to the Moroccan Diaspora Council (CCME).
