Dr. Abdellatif Bencherifa is Advisor to the President of the International University of Rabat, and Director of the Public Policy Center (PPC) at the same university. His expertise is in Social Geography, Arid Land and Mountain Geoecology, Rural Development, and Institutional change. He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural-Social Geography, Graduate School of Geography, Clark University (Worcester, Mass., United States), 1986. He has been a professor of Geography at Mohammed V University in Rabat from 1976 to 1994. In addition to a significant experience in Top Management of Higher Education (Vice-President at Al-Akhawayn University 1994-2002, and President of Meknes University 2002-2005).
Prof. Bencherifa had a 12 years high profile Professional Experience in Public Administration and Public Affairs Policy (Ministry of the Interior). His research interests evolve around: Agricultural development and pastoral nomadism ; Arid land development ; Social change in rural areas ; Institutional impact on development ; Moroccan International migration.
