As such, it is geared towards all students of the university to whom it provides linguistic support, cross-disciplinary skills, a deeper knowledge of our societies and an opening onto other civilizations. It also contributes to the cultural and scientific outreach of the university through its interest in humanities and social sciences and through the linkages it forges with socio-cultural sectors.
Its academic function in preparing students for international qualifications and its commitment to making language learning a means to convey thought - a necessary prerequisite for success - complement its role as a purveyor of ideas and as a think-tank on pedagogical and educational issues associated with development. In this sense, it plays an important role, within the university and with other national and international institutions, in the intellectual debates that take place in the public arena. Here, students find an attentive ear, local assistance in the management of their university coursework and exercises and, above all, much-needed linguistic and cultural support. The faculty members, recruited on the basis of their skills and after several auditions, form a high-performance educational team at the service of quality training.
Beyond teaching, the PLCC is also characterized by its contribution to research in the flagship disciplines of humanities. Its professors are involved in national and international research programs.
