College presentation

The College of Engineering and Architecture aims to train engineers, doctors and architects who will contribute through their intellectual technical skills and their human qualities to building the world of tomorrow.

The College of Engineering and Architecture works to serve the socio-economic world by offering excellent training in line with the current and future needs of our society and by participating in the technological innovations necessary for its development.

To succeed in this challenge, the International University of Rabat has brought together within The College of Engineering and Architecture the 3 pillars of higher education: training, scientific research and innovation.

Regarding training, the E&A College brings together all of the UIR's engineering and architecture training courses.

More than 2,500 students are trained in 3 engineering schools (Higher School of Energy Engineering (ECINE), Higher School of Computer and Digital Engineering (ESIN) and the School of Aerospace and Automotive engineering (SAAE) train the future engineers to the major scientific, societal, technological and economic challenges of tomorrow in a wide spectrum of disciplines such as Big data, cyber security, IT system security, aeronautics, automobiles and renewable energies.

And more than 1,000 students are trained at the Rabat Higher School of Architecture (ESAR), which offers high-level training leading to a new practice of architectural projects adapted to the context of the Mediterranean and African basin.

All training courses in our college are accredited and their diplomas are recognized as equivalent to national diplomas.

The College of Engineering and Architecture is also engaged in an International Accreditation process.

The research

40 teacher-researchers and around 70 doctoral students carry out their research work in one of the 2 research laboratories:

  • The Information and Communication Technologies Laboratory (TIClab) develops research in the fields of artificial intelligence, data science (Big Data), cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things .

The areas of application are numerous and correspond to current issues: environment and climate; smart city; intelligent transportation systems; intelligent energy systems; bioinformatics and e-health; cybersecurity; social network analysis.

  • The Renewable Energy and Advanced Materials Laboratory (LERMA) develops research in the fields of energy, materials, digital modeling and mobility.

The fields of application are varied, we can cite the automobile and aviation (lightweight materials, electro-mobility), renewable energies (energy storage, photovoltaics), buildings (building thermal), but also the human body (Bio-mechanics).

The I&A college also houses two international research laboratories (LIA) with national and foreign teams, notably French and American:

  • LIA DATANET:  : Big Data and large-scale networks is the result of a long-standing collaboration between French (CNRS and University of Lorraine) and Moroccan institutes including the CNRST and the UIR.
  •  LIA ATLAS :  Trans-Mediterranean Association of Laboratories for Solar Energy Applications is the result of a collaboration between the UIR, the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research of Morocco and the Mohammed V University (Morocco), Georgia Tech Lorraine, and the CNRS (France).

The I&A college is also participating with the other UIR colleges in the first OpenLab of the PSA group on the African continent: OpenLab PSA@Morocco “Sustainable Mobility for Africa”, a mixed structure between the academic world and the automotive industry.

Thanks to the excellent research work of the 40 teacher-researchers and 70 doctoral students, the UIR was ranked in 2021 in first place among Moroccan universities for its research in the field of Energy and in 2nd place in computer . (Scimagoir ranking : https://www.scimagoir.com/institution.php?idp=78892 )

And innovation with the UIR Tech Center whose vocation is to accommodate the large equipment necessary for carrying out laboratory research contracts or practical student work such as the seawater desalination system , installations linked to electromobility or the 7.5 kW wind turbine and to participate in service provision work for industrial partners.

This ecosystem ensures quality training for engineers and architects as well as doctors in fields in line with the skills needs of the world of work.
