BUDDY PROGRAM

BUDDY PROGRAM

Local students are encouraged to assist international students with inquiries both before they arrive and throughout their stay in Morocco.

They serve as a welcoming presence, offering assistance and extending the first hand of Moroccan friendship that can significantly impact newcomers. Buddies are also available to provide language support, cultural advice, and insights into life at UIR and in Morocco.

The program extends its support to students returning from an international experience, enabling them to aid their peers in preparing for their upcoming semester abroad.

At the commencement of each semester, the International Relations Office & the Student Life Departments organize a Buddy meeting for program participants.

Buddy activities encompass:

  • Conducting campus tours
  • Helping locate nearby banks, grocery stores, bookstores, etc.
  • Providing assistance with local housing
  • Organizing enjoyable outings to familiarize students with the country
  • Arranging meetings with experienced outgoing students to offer tips on preparation and expectations abroad
  • Participating in orientation meetings and pre-departure orientation
  • Hosting gatherings in hometowns, villages, or homes to foster familiarity and immersion in the local culture.

I am an international student. I need a Buddy !

A Buddy will be there to help you before your arrival and during your stay in Morocco. Your Buddy facilitates your integration in the campus life at UIR and encourages you to meet, interact and engage with the community in Morocco.
