Created in the United States in 1968, the "Special Olympics" movement benefits from the recognition of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and brings together more than 5 million athletes in 174 countries, including Morocco, where "Special Olympics Morocco" was created in 1994 by Her Royal Highness, Lalla Amina.  It is the first organization dedicated to the development through sport of people living with an intellectual disability.

The ambition of "Special Olympics" is to allow the greatest number of children, young people and adults with disabilities to experience the joy of sport. As a partner in this beautiful project, the UIR is participating in the will of "Special Olympics" and in turn contributes to social inclusion.
